Inzovu is a blend of red bourbon coffees from the Western and Southern Rwanda regions. Only the rarer peaberry beans are used in the coffee, whose name comes from the small size of the coffee bean.
The coffee is produced by the Rwanda RTC (Rwanda Trading Company), which is made up of several small farmers in the region. The smallholders’ farms are no larger than one hectare. The farmers in the area work closely together, sharing information and their own equipment such as washing stations.
Rwanda has ideal coffee growing conditions due to its high hills, regular rainfall and volcanic soil. The crop flowers from September to October, after which it is harvested in April and July. After harvesting, the coffee is processed and the extremely small coffee beans (Peaberry) are distinguished by their small size, which gives the coffee its unique flavour.
