The Cooperativa Cafetalera Capucas Limitada (COCAFCAL) supports organic coffee growing by its producers and provides organic fertilizers, training, technical and financial assistance to its producers. Omar Rodríguez founded the cooperative in 1999 to share his own coffee growing and marketing expertise with other farmers in the region. Today, the cooperative has 950 owner farmers in the province of Copan. The cooperative strongly supports the well-being of the region by rehabilitating roads, providing education for farmers’ children and also supporting medical care that would otherwise be almost impossible to provide in isolated areas.
