The Samii Bensa Washing Station is located in the heart of the Sidama region in Ethiopia, more precisely in the Bensa district. At an altitude of around 2,000 meters, around 800 small farmers work together here to supply high-quality coffee cherries. The station is part of the Testi Coffee Exporters network, a company founded by Faisel Abdosh that focuses on the production of Ethiopian specialty coffee. The processing is traditional: after harvesting, the cherries are sorted by hand, de-pulped and classified according to density in water channels. They are then fermented for 72 hours, soaked for two hours and finally dried on raised drying beds for ten days. This careful preparation gives the coffee a complex flavor profile with notes of tropical fruit, citrus and a syrupy sweetness. The Samii Bensa Washing Station exemplifies the combination of traditional craftsmanship and the pursuit of the highest quality in Ethiopian coffee cultivation.
