Kenya Kamwangi AA is a fruity and vibrant coffee where currant, mandarin, and syrupy sweetness meet classic Kenyan acidity. It suits many brewing methods, and it truly shines in pour-over, Aeropress, and drip brewers. It also delivers a fresh and balanced cup when brewed with a French press.
This coffee comes from Kirinyaga, from the Kamwangi washing station in Kenya, and is known for its bright and multi-layered flavour. In the cup, you’ll find notes of currant, juicy mandarin, and syrup-like sweetness. These flavours are supported by the lively, classic Kenyan acidity that makes the coffee refreshing and energetic. The washing station is managed by the New Ngariama Farmers Cooperative Society, which consists of nearly a thousand smallholder farms, each typically cultivating 200-250 coffee trees. Cherries are hand-picked only at full ripeness.
When the cherries arrive at the washing station, they are carefully sorted and depulped using traditional machinery. The beans are then fermented for 24-28 hours, and the best lots are soaked again for 12-24 hours, a step that deepens the flavour. Drying takes place on raised beds for 9-13 days until the beans reach the ideal moisture level.
Kirinyaga sits at an elevation of about 1,500 metres. Its volcanic soils, abundant rainfall, cool nights, and sunny days create perfect growing conditions for coffee. These factors contribute to the clean and nuanced flavour profile for which Kenyan coffees are famous.
Kenya Kamwangi AA is not just a coffee, it is a journey into the heart of Kenya, a story of the farmers’ passion and craftsmanship that comes through in every sip. By choosing this coffee, you support smallholder producers and sustainable coffee production that preserves tradition and ensures quality for the future.
