Teferi Kela is one of the many coffee-growing communities in the Sidamo region. Bette Buna, meaning “House of Coffee”, operates in the area with the goal of making sure that hard work is also financially rewarding.

They support farmers by providing guidance on improving soil quality. Coffee cherries are purchased by weight, and because ripe cherries produce the best flavour, farmers receive a higher price for fully ripe fruit. This knowledge and incentive benefit everyone involved.

Bette Buna purchases the coffee cherries and processes them at its own washing station. In addition, they distribute 350,000 new coffee seedlings in the region every year and pay an additional two dollars for each seedling once it has successfully grown. This has a significant economic impact on the local community.

In this light roast, acidity and sweetness are beautifully balanced. The cup offers delicate floral notes, cranberry and a toffee-like sweetness in the finish. The mouthfeel is light and silky. An excellent example of a vibrant and juicy Ethiopian coffee.
